Guest Services Coordinator
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art inspires a love of art and reading in young children. The only full-scale museum of its kind in the United States, The Carle collects, preserves, presents, and celebrates picture books and picture book illustrations from around the world. The Carle is currently seeking a Guest Services Coordinator to lead, develop and inspire the Guest Services team to provide high level customer service and a smooth front of the house operation. Reporting to the Education Administrator and acting as the lead Guest Service provider, the GSC will:

  • Oversee Guest Services Staff to ensure execution of daily staff activities and an understanding and adherence of all policies and procedures

  • Schedule Guest Services Staff for optimal coverage and cost effectiveness

  • Effectively manage staff by being a model for outstanding customer service, holding regular staff meetings and trainings, and providing performance appraisals

  • Identify and recommend improvements and suggest strategies that will enhance the Museum guest experience and increase visitor numbers

  • Provide basic tech support for Auditorium programming and support to Education staff for special events, group tours, etc

  • Manage communication and maintain a positive work environment and energy flow (physical and emotional) within the Guest Services Team

  • Resolve guest and staff issues through strategies that promote positive results

  • Integrate Museum core values into daily operations and activities and ensure all activities support the goal of maximizing the Guest experience


Candidates should enjoy and have experience working with the public and possess effective management skills with proven ability to motivate, lead by example and manage a minimum of 5 direct reports. Excellent verbal and written communication, computer proficiency and comfort learning new software is required; database experience preferred.
