Charitable IRA Donations
Once again, you may choose to make a gift to The Carle directly from your IRA with tax-free benefits!
Initially enacted in August of 2006, The IRA Charitable Rollover was reenacted through the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 on October 3, 2008. The IRA Charitable Rollover permits taxpayers at the age of 70½ and older to make tax-free charitable gifts totaling up to $100,000 per year from traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) and Roth IRAs during 2008 and 2009.
This rollover provision is available through December 31, 2009, including year-end contributions by December 31, 2008. The provision is particularly beneficial for those who do not itemize their tax deductions, those whose charitable contributions have been maxed out, or those or do not otherwise realize a tax benefit for charitable contributions. It is of value for donors of all income levels.
Potential donors are encouraged to consult with their legal and financial advisors to learn if this opportunity is appropriate for them. This overview may be subject to updates and corrections. It is not intended to be a substitute for competent legal or financial advice.
