Simmons College and The Carle are delighted to announce the expansion of our partnership offering graduate programs in children's literature at The Carle. For more information on our MFA and MA programs click here.
The Barbara Elleman Research Library (BERL) is a non-circulating research collection of roughly 1,000 volumes of children's books and professional resources devoted to the study of children's literature, its authors and illustrators, and the visual arts. It is ideally suited for teachers, librarians and other professionals interested in the study and use of children's literature and the visual arts, and for students conducting research for their classes. For further information contact Megan Lambert, Instructor of Children's Literature Programs at 413.658.1123 or email meganl@carlemuseum.org.
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) (www.vue.org) is a curriculum and teacher method founded on the premise that finding meaning in visual works of art involves a rich range of thinking skills. The Carle offers a two-day training and ongoing support by a VUE certified teacher trainer to schools interested in adopting the VTS curriculum. For further information contact Rosemary Agoglia, Curator of Education at 413.658.1114 or email rosemarya@carlemuseum.org.
