Frequently Asked Questions
Meet Eric Carle event Saturday, June 23, 2012
Why only a limited number of tickets?
We want to accommodate as many of Eric Carle’s fans as we can within the limited amount of time he’s here to sign. That means striking a balance, limiting both the number of entrants and the number of books per guest.
Why is Eric only signing books?
We invite you to purchase Eric Carle books in the Shop and receive an Eric Carle specially-designed pre-autographed bookplate for each hardcover book purchased.
How many books can I get signed?
Each person in your party is limited to 3 books to ensure book availability and to accommodate as many people as possible.
Why no personalization?
In an effort to have Eric sign books for the greatest number of guests possible, we ask that you not request personalization or doodles. While not a hard and fast rule, in general a book that has no personalization (flat signed) is seen as being worth more than one that is personalized.
Why bookplates?
For any other hardcover Eric Carle book purchased in the Museum Shop we would be happy to give you an Eric Carle signed bookplate. Just request the bookplate at the time of your purchase, or return later in the day with your receipt.
What’s a bookplate? What’s the value of a bookplate?
A bookplate is an adhesive label which can be affixed to the front endpapers of a book. The bookplates issued the day of the signing will have been individually signed by Eric Carle. Since there will be a limited number of bookplates issued, they increase the value of the book over one without a bookplate.
Why no flash pictures with Eric?
We ask that you refrain from using a flash, which can be hard on the eyes. If you would like to take a picture with Eric, please turn off your flash and alert museum staff at the front of the line.
