Beatrix Potter: The Complete Tales

By Beatrix Potter
Illustrated by Beatrix Potter

This deluxe volume brings all Beatrix Potter's twenty-three Peter Rabbit tales and verses together in one book. The texts are complete and unabridged and all the original illustrations, both color and black and white, are included. The stories are arranged in the order in which they were first publisheed to enable them to be read in the proper sequence for, although each story stands on its own, several are linked together by events and characters. Beatrix Potter's tales were often connected with real places, people or animals so each story has a brief introductory note about its history. The volume also includes four other works by Beatrix Potter which for one reason or another remained unpublished in her lifetime but show new facets of her talent as an illustrator and storyteller.

The world of Beatrix Potter, presented here in its entirety, is as appealing now as when it was first created over one hundred years ago.

Keats's Neighborhood

By Ezra Jack Keats

Ezra Jack Keats forever changed the landscape of children's literature when he chose an African-American boy as the hero of The Snowy Day in 1962. Today, he is widely acknowledged as one of the first picture-book creators to feature realistic, friendly, multi-ethnic urban settings in his books. Now this beautiful collection brings together ten of his best-loved stories. Also included is artwork from an unfinished picture book, The Giant Turnip published here for the very first time. An introduction by celebrated critic of children's literature Anita Silvey outlines Keats's career and inimitable contributions.

In addition, four of the most important writers and illustrators working in the field today - Jerry Pinkney, Simms Taback, Reynold Ruffins, and Eric Carle - share their thoughts on Keats and the legacy he left behind. An afterword describes his incredible life, from his impoverished childhood in Brooklyn to the books that would earn him international acclaim and the devotion of generations of readers.

George and Martha: The Complete Stories of Two Best Friends

By James Marshall

Like all best friends, George and Martha do everything together - go the movies, play at the beach, and just hang around not doing much of anything. George and Martha teach each other (and adoring readers) that even in a close friendship, privacy is important, practical jokes can sometimes backfire, and among other things, pouring split pea soup into your loafers to spare the chef's feelings is not the best-laid plan.

A man with a talent for friendship, James Marshall defined its very essence in his stories about the world's two best friends. This deluxe edition includes all seven of the George and Martha books - 35 stories in all - and a foreword by Maurice Sendak, afterword by Anita Silvey and appreciations by Marc Brown, Jack Gantos, Susan Meddaugh, Nicole Rubel, Coleen Salley, Jon Scieszka, and David Wiesner.
