It’s February, a time to celebrate love and friendship, and this month we want to let our friends know how much we love you! Each Thursday in February we are going to be giving away fabulous products from our store to lucky blog readers.
Today we’re kicking it off with one of our favorite books (and one of Eric’s personal favorites too!) about friendship: Do You Want to Be My Friend? by Eric Carle.
Two lucky winners will receive a copy of the book (in hardcover or cardboard book form, your choice!) and a signed Eric Carle bookplate. All you need to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment below before Noon EST Friday, Feb 4th and we’ll randomly pick two winners. Become a fan of The Carle Bookshop on Facebook and leave a comment there too and you can be entered in twice to improve your odds of winning!
Good luck and I’ll see you back here tomorrow to announce the winners.
Comments closed. Our random number generator chose two winners from the comments below and on our Facebook page. Congratulations to Alison Ney and Kayti Purkiss! We’ll be in touch with you about sending your prizes.
Thank you to all of you for your wonderful comments! Make sure to stop back here next week for another exciting giveaway!

Love these books. Thinking of a caterpillar theme for my baby’s 1st
Yay! I’m thrilled to hear about the blog (via Twitter). Just saw my sister this weekend, and we were planning another day when we can meet up at the Carle! (She lives in Northern VT and I live in Eastern MA.) Will definitely also spread the word on Facebook. Happy snowing February to you–we LOVE you too!
The Eric Carle Museum is one of my favorite things about living in the valley! I can’t wait to see this book.
Yay indeed! Love the Eric Carle Museum and gift shop!
My daughter is having a Very hungary Caterpillar party for her first birthday on Feb 11th! She needs a copy of this book since her room is decorated in elephants
I heard about the blog through twitter! I will have to look you guys up on facebook as well!
I’ve always been a fan of Eric Carle and love visiting your museum when I’m up that way. Would love to win a copy of this book.
Eric Carle is one of my favorites. I’m so excited to be living in Mass now so I can come visit the museum.
My 2-year-old LOVES “Do You Want to Be My Friend?” She loves ‘naming’ all of the tails and always finds the caterpillar at the end climbing the tree.
We are BIG fans of Eric Carle in our house, for sure!
Now off to find the Carle Bookshop on FB!
The bookshop is one of the must-dos when I visit Western MA. I am an avid picture book collector and Eric Carle is one of my favorite authors! I have a family child care center out of my home and the children are read to each day!
My kids adore Eric Carle books…okay, so do I! What artistic inspiration!~Jenn B.
My first grader would MUCH rather read about friends than love! A great alternative to Valentine mush!
My 6 y.o. son with Autism adores Eric Carle books! He’s always checking them out from the library!
I have always loved Eric Carle. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him over the summer with my three and a half month old daughter. She’s now nine months old and we’re soon making the trip out to The Carle to get her first birthday party supplies!!! She already has a huge collection of Eric Carle books…unfortunately she doesn’t have this one yet! Her baby book is even Eric Carle themed! We love his amazing work!
You can never have too many friends, according to my 3 year old!
We would love to visit the museum and even have a membership but live in Brisbane Australia! Don’t know if you could get much further away but we follow all the blogs and even had all my sons Xmas presents shipped out. Thanks to a bit of help from some wonderful staff they arrived at 4pm on the 24th of December….. Just in time!
What a wonderful place to celebrate children’s picture books! Eric Carle has always been a favorite of our family, and continues to be even though the boys are older now. Working in the children’s room at our public library gives me the opportunity to keep up on all of the new books being published. There is nothing like a good picture book to make you smile!
I’m so glad to hear that the Christmas presents arrived in time!
Thank you for your excellent blog. As a teacher of 3 – 6 year olds I get incredible inspiration for story time reading your entries each week.
We are looking forward to visiting the Eric Carle Museum on our next trip to Massachusetts this March. I was also excited to see Eric Carle books at Kohl’s this month. They will make a great Valentine gift for my kids (4 y.o. & 18 mo.).
The Eric Carle Museum is the very best place to go with a grandchild! I have been taking my granddaughter there for years now and it never gets old.
Our summer trip to Boston was not complete without our maiden voyage to Eric Carle’s Museum of Picture Book Art. It was delightful and filled with so many points of discovery for a lover of children’s books.
I love the bookstore and its online opportunities, too.
