At the Carle: Stephen Savage

May 11th, 2011 by Eliza Eliza

We’re excited to welcome back to The Carle, illustrator Stephen Savage. I’m a big fan of Stephen’s bold and colorful graphic style of illustration and his newest book, Where’s Walrus? (Scholastic Press) is wonderful.

In this wordless picture book, a walrus escapes from the zoo and leads the zookeeper in a hilarious chase around the city. Each double-page spread reveals the walrus in disguise – posing with mannequins in a store window, painting with artists in the park, or even dancing on stage. Children will love being in on the secret, pointing out walrus when the zookeeper just can’t seem to find him.

You have to check out this wonderful book trailer for the book, featuring the super-cute runaway walrus live in New York City!

Join Stephen in the Reading Library for a special storytime at 2:00 on Sunday, May 15th. Afterward, he’ll be signing his books outside our Shop.

Can’t make it to The Carle? Place your order now to reserve an autographed copy and we can ship it to you after the event. Hope to see you all there!
