The Carle is in Amherst, Massachusetts, part of the Connecticut River Valley, a region rich in cultural, agricultural, and educational heritage. The Valley is known for its farmland and mountains, progressive politics, and vibrant arts scene. The college towns of Amherst and nearby Northampton are bustling with restaurants, shops, hotels, and cafés.

Visit Hampshire County and Greater Amherst Area provide information about hotels, B&B, restaurants, and other trip-planning help. The others counties of Western Massachusetts offer many additional options for travelers: Berkshire County, Franklin County, and Hampden County. The closest places for lunch or a snack are Atkins Farms Country Market, Flayvors of Cook Farm (visit the cows!), and Esselon Café.
