Eric Carle Inspired Collages

I wanted to share with you the collagy characters that are appearing in The Studio recently. The current project is Carle-Inspired Collages and we are using tissue paper and drawing tools, materials inspired by Eric Carle's picture book illustration process. We offer this project every year and it continues to be a favorite with guests who visit us from around the world during these warmer summer months.

Painting with Drips and Sprays

Spring and summer are prefect times of year for outdoor art making! Step outside and experiment making drip and spray paintings with supplies you may already have around your house.

Tissue Paper and Liquid Starch Collage

There are few explorations we do in the studio more loved than Tissue Paper and Liquid Starch Collage. Eric Carle uses collage to create the illustrations for his books by cutting shapes out of tissue papers he painted with acrylic paint and then gluing them to thick white board. We offer this project from time-to-time in the Art Studio as a way for guests to connect with Eric Carle's work. What we see time and time again, however, is that after even just a little time experimenting with colorful tissue papers and glue, guests of all ages become connected with their own inner-artist.
