Making Art Together

Springtime Art Gardens

This week, we explored art inspired by gardens. Gardens can take many forms: potted plants on a window sill, a carefully planted vegetable patch, or landscaped spaces in parks. The team took some time observing, researching, and imagining gardens, and used a variety of materials to create their own. READ MORE

Books with Surprises

This week, we invite our At Home Art Studio community to explore bookmaking and art with surprises. We often make books in the Art Studio as a way to encourage storytelling. Books can be filled with all sorts of drawings and illustrations, and there are countless ways of making them. Design elements like die-cuts and lift flaps add elements of surprise and make artwork interactive for others to enjoy. A Year (almost) in Pictures

Team members and guests have been sharing photographs and drawings of what they observe in Bobbie’s Meadow since April of this year. So we created a visual collection of these images on the Art Studio bulletin board, a calendar showing the change of seasons in the meadow. READ MORE

Art Aquarium

This fall, we turned the Art Studio into a watery seascape and invited guests to help us create an ocean on the Art Studio windows. Inspired by the exhibition Under the Sea with Eric Carle, we used found materials to create moving sculptures and made a large-scale collaborative installation together. READ MORE
