Making Art Together

Wood and Paper Stars

We’re always trying to think of ways to shade and catch the beautiful sunshine that streams directly through the Art Studio’s wall of south-facing windows in the cold months. Inspired by the array of twig stars I’ve seen on Pinterest, staff in the Art Studio helped me make these stained-glass-like stars and turn them into a happy window hanging. READ MORE

The Rainbow Wave

If you've visited The Carle before then you've experienced the beautiful architecture of the building and surrounding grounds, including The Museum's stunningly high ceilings and southern-facing walls of glass. Here in The Art Studio we are always experimenting with ways to compliment the light-filled room, including the open spaces high above us.

Toddler Art Activity: Contact Paper & Sparkly Things

Materials Play is a space and time for toddlers and their parent or caregiver to have fun in the Art Studio with materials and explorations selected especially for them. Sometimes messy, always open-ended and experimental, the 4-week series occur about once a season. On one of my recent Materials Play sessions I offered pieces of contact paper and a variety of sparkly things to stick to it. READ MORE
