Making Art Together

DIY Chalk Board Drop-in Workshop with Knack

February school vacation week is almost upon us and from art making to story times to theatre; The Carle has your family’s vacation covered! One of the activities I'm most excited about is hosting our friends from Knack on Sunday, February 23rd.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make your own chalk boards, then this is the drop-in workshop for you! Knack founders Amber Ladley and Macey Faiella will be on hand to help you embellish your chalk board with an array of upcycled materials and teach you the steps so you can make them at home. This drop-in style activity is open to all ages and will run from 1:00-4:00pm (or until supplies run out) in the back of the Art Studio.

Until then, if you're looking for a creative Valentine's Day activity,

check out this great stamping tutorial on Knack's website using just a recycled paper tube!

Founded by Amber Ladley and Macey Faiella (pictured above) in July 2012, Knack: The Art of Clever Reuse is a socially responsible for-profit creative reuse center in Easthampton, Massachusetts, where you can:

-Find all sorts of reusable materials for your creative projects

-Take a workshop or drop in during their open studio time

-Have a party (birthday, craft night, creative gathering, etc.)

-Shop for upcycled gifts/art handmade by local artists

I’ll be taking lots of photos during the workshop so I can share the chalk board tutorial here on our blog, so stay tuned!
