Last Saturday we were lucky enough to have
Bob Staake, author and illustrator of picture books such as
The Red Lemon and
The Donut Chef, visit us here at The Carle. Bob's one of the talented artists featured in the
Golden Legacy: Original Art from 65 Years of Golden Books exhibition right now in our East Gallery. He and Dan Yaccarino represent the new, modern illustration of our beloved Golden Books. (And Dan will be
here February 20th - don't miss it!)
Bob gave a wonderful presentation in our auditorium about how he digitally makes his art and walked us through the process of creating many of his books. We even got a peek at his funny book ideas for "Golden-Books-That-Will-Never-Be":

And a special Golden Books guest joined us in the audience - The Poky Little Puppy, himself!

After Bob's presentation, he did a booksigning outside our Shop with Golden Book editor and author, Diane Muldrow. Their latest book together,
We Planted a Tree, will be released March 9th, but we got early copies just for this event.

Thank you to Bob and Diane for a wonderful, memorable event. Come back and visit us soon!
