The Carle Bookshop Recommends: Chris's Holiday Wishlist

In case you're in need of some gift ideas, the staff at The Carle Bookshop has each put together their top picks for wishlist-worthy books and products from our shop. Today we have Chris's list of her current top 5 favorites for gift-giving this year.

(Clockwise from left)

1. Eric Carle Caterpillar & Butterfly Double Fabric Panel

This panel is my favorite among the Eric Carle fabrics. It would be heard to find such vibrant and beautiful colors on any other fabric. The panel (44" x 23") could be made into a pillow or simply hung on the wall. Either way, it's a brilliant addition to a child's room as well as a great bargain for $7.25.

2. ABC3D by Marion Bataille

If what you really love about pop-ups is mind boggling feats of paper engineering, the ABC3D pop-up book might not be your first choice. However, if you're partial to exquisitely designed books that are works of art in themselves, then you should take a look at this book - you just might love it! $24.99

3. Snowy Owl Puppet

Did you know that owls can rotate their heads almost 360 degrees? They can, and so can our snowy owl puppet from Folkmanis. This exceptional puppet is a personal favorite and a guaranteed best gift ever for children around six years and older. $32.95

4. 100 Great Children's Picture Books by Martin Salisbury

This book is a must for grown-ups who love picture book illustration. It contains superbly reproduced children's book art from around the globe from the last 100 years. $40.00

5. Anything by or about Bruno Munari!

Bruno Munari was a brilliant Italian artist and designer. His children's books are full of bright textured surfaces and cut-outs that create a strong sense of movement, touch and color. If you don't already know about Bruno Munari, then you have an exciting discovery ahead. I'd recommend starting with these:

Bruno Munari's ABC, Bruno Munari's Zoo and this new collection about Bruno Munari by Giorgio Maffei, Munari's Books.
