Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day!

Independent Bookstore Day is a celebration of local bookshops working tirelessly to share a love of books and reading. It’s usually scheduled in the Spring, but because of quarantine, we waited to celebrate until this Saturday, August 29, 2020. The team in the Carle Bookshop has been working tirelessly since reopening to stock our shelves with new titles, keep the store clean, and implement a new diversity audit and bring new Black voices and characters to our visitors.

Two t-shirts, a pair of socks, and two tote bags are hung up along the front of a shelf full of books in The Carle Bookshop.

We’re celebrating Independent Bookstore Day this year online and in-store!

From now until Saturday, August 29th, enjoy 10% off books (25% off for Museum Members) in our online store with coupon code IBD2021.

Each year, bookstores receive limited edition exclusive #bookstoreday items to sell. These special items will go on sale in-store and online on Saturday, but act fast! They are in limited supply.

Follow our stories on Instagram and try some #kidlit trivia!

Visit us in-store on Saturday, August 29th and spin our prize wheel at check-out!

A large yellow and green prize wheel sits on top of a glass table in The Carle Bookshop with images from The Very Hungry caterpillar on each notch.

We hope to see you Saturday! Thank you for supporting The Carle.
