Picture Books We Love

Holiday Giveaway: Peter Laird Doodle!

It's time for another holiday giveaway! In celebration of The Carle's 10th Anniversary, three wonderful artists have given us original doodles to share with our friends.  Last week one lucky reader won a doodle by Tony DiTerlizzi, and this week we're offering the opportunity to win a doodle by Peter Laird,  co-creator of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The doodle is an original sketch, autographed on 9" x 6" heavy cardstock. Who is your favorite Ninja Turtle? We love this picture of two very different turtles by two of our favorite artists, Eric Carle and Peter Laird! We want to thank Peter Laird for his hours spent doodling for fans and are so grateful he made an extra one that one of you lucky readers will be able to take home! How to enter: -- Leave a comment below and let us know, if you could have any super power, what would it be? Please note: Comments are individually approved to filter out spam, so there may be a delay in your comment appearing below. Entries must be received before 12:00 pm Eastern time on Wednesday, December 19th. We'll pick a winner at random and announce it on Thursday, December 20th. Be sure to check back next week for our last giveaway -- a doodle by Eric Carle!

Today, with all that this past week has brought. I would like to be able to time-travel and stop bad things from happening to innocent loving people. ~ I think Michaelangelo was a favorite, since we had a Michael of our own! :)

If I could have any super power, it would be to get inside other people's minds and know what they're thinking and feel what they're feeling. As a writer, I often wonder what possesses people to do and say what they do. It would help a lot. P.S. This is a GREAT give-a-way. :) Thanks. And I love the two turtles :)

To become invisible at will, and then visible again at will. Who hasn't wished to become the fly on the wall from time to time.

That's easy! I'd like the ability to heal--pain, disease, relationships. I'd like to be able to do miracles. And fly. That would be cool.

If I had a super power it would be the ability to bring peace and love to the whole world. No one would ever be at war ever again. Everyone would have clean drinking water, and no one would ever die of a preventable disease again. I believe in dreaming big!

I have always told my five year old son that "moms have eyes in the back of their head" and that is their "superpower" - "they can see everything". So if I could have a superpower, that's what it would want so that I could watch my kids in all of their incredible moments when they would think that I am not looking. And to prove to my son, that mommy superpowers do exist. :-)

I don't think I would actually want any super powers. It would be nice if I could snap my fingers and have my entire house cleaned.

If I could have a super power, I would choose to travel through time. I would especially like to be able to stop time every now and again (mostly to clean my house). :)

As a child, I always wanted to twitch my nose like Samantha on Bewitched. As an adult, I still want to be a (cartoon) witch flying around on my broom casting magical spells with the twitch of my nose.

The ability to play any instrument like a virtuoso! I'd distract the villain with the elegant sounds of piano, the booms of tuba, and the blasting of trumpets!
