Picture Books We Love

Picture Books for Grown-Ups

Working in a children's bookstore, I've heard many customers comment over the years that their kids are "too old" for picture books. It's as if there is some kind of invisible barrier when a child hits a certain age that picture books become childish or even insulting. This may be true for many readers who are excited to devour longer and longer novels, but I'd hate for someone to brush off the power of pictures too quickly. Picture Book Puzzler: All You Can Eat

In celebration of our local Museums 10 initiative Table for 10, we have a new exhibit in our Reading Library. The exhibit, All You Can Eat: From Apple Pie to Zucchini arranges images of delicious food in an alphabetical display, allowing the chance for children and parents to try and search out the food, knowing the letter it starts with, in each picture.
