- Kickoff Northampton’s KidsBestFest 2007 with the Museum’s screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder and directed by Mel Stuart. Based on the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by Roald Dahl in 1964 and illustrated by Quentin Blake (1995, 1998, 2001), Charlie can't believe his luck when he finds a golden ticket and wins the trip of a lifetime around the famous factory. Might there be a golden ticket waiting for you?

Be sure to visit the Gallery and Art Studio following the film to enjoy the magic of Quentin Blake’s drawings and create some of your own.

In conjunction with the Exhibition, Richard Yarde: Stompin’ at the Savoy, embark on an exciting voyage through the evolution of popular American dance with highlights featuring African-American entertainers of the 20th century, including Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Earl “Snakehips” Tucker. Be prepared to kick up your heels and dance!

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art offers families the opportunity to meet, eat, and enjoy all of the Museum's regular public programs and special exhibitions at a time convenient for you!

Taking a cue from the Museum's popular Member PJ parties, which have been cited by families as the perfect bedtime transition for little ones, First Fridays @ The Carle invites visitors to head to the Museum after school/work, grab a quick and casual bite to eat in the Museum's Café, enjoy a Storytime in the Reading Library, drop by the Galleries, take in a short film in the Auditorium, and create a masterpiece in the Art Studio . . . all before bedtime!

The program runs from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on the first Friday of each month.
