Simms Taback: Art by Design

June 28 - October 26, 2014
East Gallery

To celebrate the gift of a significant part of Simms Taback’s picture book archive, The Carle is delighted to present the exhibition Simms Taback: Art by Design. The show surveys Taback’s eight major books, including his Caldecott Medal winner Joseph Had a Little Overcoat (1991), and his Honor book, There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly (1997). Taback’s irrepressible humor shines through in his colorful, beautifully crafted compositions, and important messages abound.

Support for this exhibition was generously provided by Penguin Young Readers Group.
