It’s hard to believe it’s time for our Golden Legacy exhibit to close! If you’re in the area, this weekend will be your last chance to see the original art from these classic and beloved books on our walls, so make sure you squeeze in a visit.
We celebrated this weekend with illustrator Dan Yaccarino, who is one of the new generation of Golden Book illustrators featured in the exhibit. He also has some other fabulous picture books illustrated in his distinct, colorful style. These are some of my favorites:
We started out the fun with a live podcast with Dan and our own Andy Laties right in front of the store. Check back soon for audio clips of the podcast here on our blog. They were both so funny and I think they had just as much fun as the kids in the audience. In the meantime, get your Dan Yaccarino interview fix over at the blog, Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast and check out some great process pieces of his art.
Later, Dan and Golden Book editor and author, Diane Muldrow, presented about creating golden books in our auditorium, followed by a booksigning. Click here to buy copies of Dan’s books. He was able to sign some books for us to sell, so if you’re interested, make sure to ask if we have any autographed copies left when you check out.
What a fun way to end such a great exhibit! And of course, no Golden Book party is complete without the Poky Little Puppy.
Can you guess our top five best-selling Golden Books from this exhibit? Leave your guesses in the comments and I’ll post the answers tomorrow.
