Whole Book Approach

This workshop is full and registration has closed. 

(3 PDPs) Learn about The Whole Book Approach and discover the difference between reading with children and reading to children. Participants will explore how to evaluate the picture book as an art form with the goal of using this critical engagement with the picture book as a platform for interactive reading experiences. Registration includes a copy of Reading Picture Books with Children by Megan Dowd Lambert.
 

A limited number of workshop spots are free for preschool teachers and elementary teachers in Title 1 Schools through The Carle Community Fund. Scholarships are awarded at random and offered on a quarterly basis. Application deadline for fall workshops is September 14. Click here to apply.

Inspired by Kleven’s most recent picture book, Hiro’s Hats, join the author/illustrator in a drop-in workshop exploring texture and collage. Using a variety of paper materials, drawing tools, and found objects, create your own artwork inspired by the snow monkeys within the book.

CactusHead Puppets Present: Magnificent Monster Circus

CactusHead Puppets presents a circus like no other! Join Max, the Monsters’ Caretaker, in this fun and interactive show performed with several different styles of puppets as they guide you through the world of monsters, and maybe even lend the monsters a hand yourself. You'll meet many friendly monsters in this table-top big top, and witness their amazing tricks of daring-do!  All are invited to step right up and enjoy the thrills of Clarissa the Crested Cannon, experience the chills of Eustace the Uni-Browed, Uni-cycling, Uni-monster as he tackles the Sinister Snake Slack-rope, make friends with the Fiery Fanged Worm, and more in The Magnificent Monster Circus!
