Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle

April 15, 2022 - April 15, 2024

The South Street Seaport Museum’s discovery room features a new exhibition of maritime-themed art by Eric Carle. Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle is designed specifically for children aged 2-7 and their adults. Huge immersive murals invite families into Carle’s book A House for Hermit Crab and the cargo-ship adventures of 10 Little Rubber Ducks. Visitors can enjoy hands-on activities while exploring Carle’s use of color and pattern. 

This exhibition is organized in cooperation with The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.

Eric Carle

Eric Carle illustrated brilliant and innovatively designed picture books for children, including his most well-known title, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In 2002, Carle and his wife, Barbara, co-founded The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.
