If you're like me, you're finally kicking into gear for holiday gift buying as you realize December is already going quickly! In case you're in need of some gift ideas, the staff at The Carle Bookshop has each put together their top picks for wishlist-worthy books and products from our shop.

I'll go first with my current favorites - all things I'd love to have for myself or are on my list for gifting to friends and family this year.

Top of the Shelf: Sisters

Sisters by Raina Telgemeier

Raina is back with the much-anticipated sequel to Smile! Raina can't wait to have some serious fun with her new little sister, Amara. But Raina soon learns that Amara is no picnic- she's cranky and prefers to play on her own. The sisters spend much if their time together fighting with one another. A family car trip some years later proves difficult as the girls struggle to remain civil. But, an accident forces them to rely on each other temporarily.

I think this is a great prequel to Smile. I've always wanted a sister, but could never figure out if we would get along or fight at every moment. Sisters is a wonderful graphic novel which illustrates that sometimes your family is not what you hoped for. This story also lets us know that even though sisters may argue or fight, it doesn't mean that they don't love each other as well. A great read for pre-teens and up (with or without a sister of your own).
