The Carle Community Fund

The Carle Community Fund was created in 2018 to make The Carle more affordable and accessible to families, schools, and educators. Established by a generous donation from Mo and Cher Willems, The Carle Community Fund expands on a previous program established by Helen and Peter Bing over 10 years ago.

The Carle Community Fund supports the following access initiatives:

For individuals and families:

EBT Card to Culture Program
The Carle participates in the EBT Card to Culture Program, offering complimentary admission for up to four people to anyone presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card through the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA); EBT Card to Culture is a collaboration between the Mass Cultural Council and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services' Department of Transitional Assistance. Click here for a full list of participating organizations.

For schools and teachers:

Field Trip Scholarships
The Carle Community Fund finances guided tours of the Museum for Title 1 public schools (all grades, all states). To be eligible to apply schools must:

  • Be a Title 1 public school
  • Have their field trip to The Carle take place between October and February of the school year.

Field trip scholarships are awarded at random (application deadline: September 15). The scholarship value is up to $500 and supports admission and busing for field trips to The Carle.

Teacher Workshop Scholarships
The Carle Community Fund covers the cost of professional development workshops offered at The Carle. Scholarships are awarded at random and offered on a quarterly basis. Preschool teachers and elementary teachers at Title I schools are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Please visit Upcoming Events for a list of eligible workshops offerings.

For social service organizations:

Access Pass Program
The Carle’s Access Pass Program aims to support community, collaboration, and creativity, and to give more families access to The Carle to experience art and books. To be eligible for the Access Pass Program, social service agencies must have proof of 501(c)3 status, have a mission focused on supporting families, and be located in Hampshire, Hampden, or Franklin County.
